About the Client Log In system used by this CMS

This content management system includes a typical eCommerce style User Registration form.

New users can register for access to view content which is only available to logged-in members.

A user name must be created when registering. Email addresses are not employed as a user name for log-in purposes because email addresses are common knowledge and therefore less secure than a random user name.

Registrants receive an email message containing a link which must be clicked in order to activate their account. Registrants are assigned a cryptic password which they can change after successfully activating their registration and logging into the CMS.

Resources exist for users to retrieve forgotten user names and passwords without human intervention. Passwords are stored in an encrypted manner and are not retrievable. Lost passwords can be reset to a random password. For security reasons, existing passwords cannot be retrieved.

Registered users are assigned a default, numeric user level of zero. Content intended for certain groups of users can controlled by setting a user level (0 through 9) in the page properties.

Entry of a coupon code at the time of registration can optionally be used to provide certain registrants with a user level that is greater than zero.

A combination of individual user level properties and page user level properties is employed to control navigation links and the display of authorized content. This prevents users from viewing content having a page user level property which exceeds the individual's user level. For example, user level zero is unable to view pages defined as requiring a user level one or higher. Search engine robots cannot log into the system, thus robots will never view restricted content.

External resources for controlling User Access to Content

For small businesses who wish to share documents and calendars internally with employees having a valid email addresses under a given domain name, Google Apps can be configured to process email and control the access to shared contacts, documents, and calendars.

For example, let's say that ABC Company has a group of 10 employees needing to share documents and calendars for a specific project. ABC Company might register a new domain name for this project, using Google Apps and assign a new email address to authorized users.
